Internationalization is a one of the major element for the future development of Azerbaijan Technological University. Bilateral cooperation is established with 89 universities in 21 countries. Examples: Istanbul Technical Unviersity (Turkey), Suncheonhyang University (South Korea), Indian University of Technology (India), University of Weihenstephan (Germany), Politechnic University of Bucharest (Romania). Azerbaijan Technological University is experienced in working in Erasmus+ capacity building projects. Examples: establishing a Master Program on crisis and risk engineering for transport services; creating Quality Assurance Centers at Higher Education Institutions; building up the national Rectors Conference.

The Tech Startup Centre is located on campus and operates with the full support of the University’s Board of Management. This bestows many benefits on the Centre including access to up-to-date science-based data and information. The University has a number of science-oriented faculties which include Light industry. Together with its science-based faculties, the Food and Textiles Faculty has a Consumer Goods and Marketing Department which can provide valuable know-how in new product commercialisation.
The main goal of the Tech Startup Centre at the Azerbaijan University of Technology is to become a driver of tech entrepreneurship, helping students and graduates to build tech businesses by providing training and a wide range of other supports to future entrepreneurs, people who will start their own tech business, developing entrepreneurial spirit in students and organising self-employed business incubators, techno-parks and attracting students to these organisations.

Azerbaijan Technological University offers 24 bachelors, 23 masters, and 11 doctoral degree programs and serves to 3500 students with a teaching and research staff of 550. Importance of the university for Azerbaijan has increased permanently. Reconstruction of mining industries and rapid decelopment of non-oil sector make it necessary to bring modern technical equipment to the country. Therefore Azerbaijan Technological University works on transforming education into a technopark type higher education institution.
